Sorry this is a little late. I have been out of internet range for the last week. I will add a photo later.

Finally finished some cars this week!

Akron, Canton and Youngstown 40' PS1 Boxcar w/7' Superior Door, Door was from Branchline as the IMRC kit came with YSD Doors. Car was originally purchased by the New Haven and sold to Evans who refurbished it and the ACY then purchased it from Evans. Painted with Scalecoat II Reefer Yellow and lettered with Champ Decals.

ECW 40' 2600CF Airslide Covered Hopper, Since Oddballs Decals sometimes have enough data to do two cars, this is the second ART car I did with the set. Added airlines from the air resevoir to the triple valve and under the side sill of the car. Replaced the cast Sill Steps with A-Line Sill Steps.

Front Range 50' ACF Boxcar, Lehigh Valley had these cars sealed and coating applied to car to keep water out as it was used to transport Charmin Bathroom Tissue. Painted with Scalecoat II Boxcar Red and lettered with Herald King Decals.

    Thanks for looking!

I'd love to know about that sealing process. What was involved? We never did this to any cars I worked on. Just whatever elements rivets, welds and paint would keep out.

This is a "What If" car, a Budd built business car for the MKT.

It might be "what if", but it out classes almost anything we see today.

Thanks for the question the LV book I used as a reference said these cars were painted with Imron Paint. I Googled Imron and found out it was a Urethane Paint by Dupont. It was very thick and could be applied by spray painting. It also kept its shine for a long time and was impervious to most liquids except it did not do a very good job with ethylene glycol.

I wonder if the paint was all they used, as far as sealing those cars? I remember using Imron, many long years ago. As I recall, it was a bit difficult to blend in when making repairs or touch ups. I wonder if that was ever rectified?

That's great, Candy. Though I see you have the same problem with brown areas in your grass as I do. :crying:
