Welcome to the new year of Photo Fun. Let's share some photos of what you have been up to in the modeling world. I recently acquired an N scale brass freight car at a very reasonable cost. It was unlettered so I just finished putting decals on it. It is a Santa Fe Sk-Q class stock car. The two on either side of it are NYC prototypes but they make OK stand ins for the roads I model.
The differences between the cars is pretty obvios in that picture. Out of curiosity. were those single or double level cars?
Both prototypes shown were convertible cars where they could be either single level for cattle or double level for calfs, sheep and hogs. The upper floor could be raised up to a position right under the roof.
Painted an Atlas U23B and partially painted an Athearn GP35. Had trouble with white bleeding a little on the 35, have to touch up later. I don't think this will be the CC&CI regular paint scheme. Likely to replace white with yellow on future units. The white/yellow band will allow me to run custom decals in black ink on my Canon inkjet printer. Sent from my LG-P930 using Tapatalk 2
The Conductor fired up the Engineer so was left hanging around the Piru Creek bridge and will miss lunch downtown.
Oops! But that can also be a bit of fun for the conductor and rear brakie. I know of one MILW main line bridge, where they'd be switching a nearby yard, and before starting those chores would leave their caboose on or near the river bridge. The conductor would then go fishing, and catch the crew a nice dinner, which they'd eat at the next crew change.
just trying to catch the look from fotos. guess dme destroyed this former cp rail unit. not me fading lettering was done by using a sandblasting gun set a low pressure. only problem : you only have one shot to do it right.
That does sound like an extreme weathering method, and I can see easily how one try only applies. Might also be good for some of those older SP's...
