Nothing new yet this week. I have been busy holding "Model Railroad Camp" for 5 through 7 year olds at the local railroad museum. I have nine very enthusiastic young modelers decorating T-TRAK modules that they get to take home after we run trains on them today. I will try to post some photos of that later. Here is an old one from the files. I have been trying to replace all my red STOP signs with yellow ones because I model things before they changed to red after 1954.
I didn't know about the stop signs being yellow. I'll have to keep that in mind, Russell. Nice image...it works very well. Here is my latest scratch-build..a watering standpipe. I used sprue and some leftover iron plates and stuff from kits to fashion something that could pass for a standpipe...I hope. Note the red pull handle dangling.
Reposting in Part From the 100% Crop Thread The reason I do "cropped shots" is two fold: Point out interesting details The picture looks better by getting rid of background clutter Interesting detail, (the car number on top),and the chain link ads a certain aesthetic that the original did not posses. "Attempt at Art" Interesting Details: Really not aesthetic or interesting at all: You could call my 640 images "Attempts at Art"
Hi all, I am new to the board, but have been lurking for awhile. I finally started building something so I thought I'd show my progress. I am returning to model railroading in N scale after nearly 20 years off. I was in HO scale back in my early teens. I was feeling ambitious so I decided to go with handlaid track in code 40. I have always wanted handlaid track and I found that Fast Tracks makes turnout building a snap even for ham-fisted galoots like me. I spent all last weekend building benchwork. I still have to buy some plywood and cut out the sub-roadbed. I work at such a glacial pace that I probably won't have trains running till this winter. I'll post as I make decent gains. -Brett
Here's my post for the week. This is a Bowser USRA Mikado I finished about some time ago. It's finally getting painted now. George V.
I had eight guys and one girl this year in the younger group. In July I have another session for kids 8 and older. The highlight of the week is when they get to snap all their modules together and run trains. They each get one train car to run in the trains and take home with their finish module. I guess if they keep coming back each year they will eventually have a good start on a layout.
Russell: Looks like great fun with the kids. It's very rewarding, I know. Thanks for taking the time and effort. You probably have some future model railroaders there.
