I will go ahead and open this topic up for the weekend. I will try to post some photos later from this week's model railroad day camp that I am holding at the museum. The kids finish up their modules today and we snap them all together to run trains before they take them home with them.
Here are three cars that I finished this week! Eastern Car Works Airslide Covered Hopper Kit, added airlines and sill steps, painted Scalecoat II Aluminum Paint and lettered with Microscale Decals. IMRC ACF 4650CF Late Phase Covered Hopper. I used this car as it had the circular hatches and the correct discharge gates that the prototype had. Added A-line Sill Steps, painted with Scalecoat II MOW Gray and lettered with Islington Station Products Decals. Exactrail Evans 4780CF Covered Hopper Kit, painted with Floquil Reefer White and lettered with Herald King Decals. I especially wanted to do this car as the RTR Car had the completely wrong color green stripe. Thanks for looking! Rick J
I have many industries on my layout. Here are some of the recent structures I made to replace the paper ones. All are scratchbuilt and represent an actual rail served industry in San Antonio. Budweiser Beer Distributor Tiefs Wallboard Rio Supply. I don't know what they supply but there is an old siding beside the building. Roddis Lumber and Veneer. This business is still served by rail.
Love those industries, Flash. Gives me incentive to improve and add to my own! This week I added a Digitrax decoder to the GP7. It still runs like a charm. Mike
Flash, Very nice work. Those are on your home basement N scale layout? BTW, Rio Supply being in San Antonio, maybe you don't want to know what they are distributing. If that was in El Paso, I can only imagine what is distributed. Again, very nice work. Carl
Again, some very nice work this week! Rick J, do you have a layout for all of those beautiful cars you've been painting?
Great stuff indeed everyone ! Hard to pick one in particular that stands out as they all do in their own right, but the kids gotta take first place , kudos to you Russell and those involved with that camp !!
I see some seriously interested looks on those young faces. Hopefully you have captured a few of them.
Unfortunately, no; but I do take them to the club I belong to in Strongsville, OH and use them their. The guys each week want to see if I have added any new cars to my consist that week. I do vary eras when I go so a car I finish one week may not show up until the trainset for that era is chosen. Rick J
