For some strange reason I have a knack of winning raffles and door prizes. However they are invariably something I don't normally model. I won this Kato Heritage diesel at the N scale mini convention in Oklahoma City last December. It is still fun to have something different to run on the show layouts when I set up with all the other NTRAK clubs.
Southern New Mexico N-Scalers layout last week during Fair show. I have a great deal of work to do on the refinery yet . . . . Hope you enjoy. Carl
That's a lovely scene, very believable. Obviously your engines burn anthracite and the firemen are perfectionists because the house and swing set are so clean. :cute:
WOW ! That scenery is just perfect! Please do a, how to, thread on trees. They're the best I've ever seen!
The next time I make some, I will take pictures of the process and post them. The trees are made from sage brush.
Some really great stuff so far! Montanan, I'll second what Candy said about the trees, and add that the angle and framing of the shot are just outstanding. Great looking layout! Carl, a great scene/module, even more so because it looks thus with no trains in sight at the time. Is it unitrack? Russell, congratulations, and that is a good paint scheme (and for the record, I think they (UP) did a terrible job with the MoPac heritage unit)
Eagle 2, thanks for the comments. You are right, it was missing something. Here is a rather non prototypical train. It is my wife's Smokey Bear train. She collects teddy bears, that's why she collected me 50+ years ago. I did a very close clone of the CP Rail SD-40 snoot 5902 for her. Anyway the layout looks better with a train. Yes it is a Unitrak layout. Excellent product and the switches (turnouts) work great. We have 650 - 700 feet of track on the layout and during the fair we decided a couple more sidings would make it easier to operate. . . . . .
Here are three scratchbuilt structures in the town of New Braunfels on our H0 club layout. Henne Hardware by Bill Eubank; the other two by Doyle Bond. Both are prototype and were measured from the actual structure. Overall view of a fictitious town on the layout:
Rats, but I keep hoping. <gr> On the flip, that's a lovely creation. Though the alley pavement is too clean for the shabby appearance of the fence and building.
Thanks Hank ! I was thinking the same thing. It is too clean. I will work on that. Needs some weeds as well
