The old "Davis House" was built in the 1890s about equal distance from the SP and the Santa Fe tracks in Richmond, Texas. It has now been moved to the George Ranch Historical park and restored.
Russell, nice model of an interesting prototype! This week I concentrated on Covered Hopper cars after a bunch of boxcar building projects. First up is an Atlas Post 71 4650CF ACF Covered Hopper Kit, replaced the installed outlets with the extra gravity outlets in the kit. Why the Chinese glue the trough hatch in on an undecorated kit is beyond me, finally managed to pry that off and glued in the circular hatches that were on the prototype. Painted with Scalecoat II MofW Gray and lettered with Herald King Decals. Next is an Atlas PS 2003CF Covered Hopper kit, painted with Scalecoat II MofW Gray and lettered with Champ Decals, Needed this car to break up the fleet of Bowser H30's that I just acquired. Finally a Proto 2000 PS 4427 Hi-Side Covered Hopper, I started this car a number of years ago, but untill I acquired a drilling template and roofwalk from Plano, it sat unfinished. I finally got the parts, drilled out for and installed the roofwalk supports and then the roofwalk after painting. I got the template as I have a raft of these and the Walthers low hip version to convert. Car was painted with Scalecoat II MofW Gray and lettered with Herald King Decals. Thanks for looking! Rick J
Thanks Rick and Bill. Scratch built using Evergreen and Plastruct styrene sheet along with Grandt Line windows. Took a month or so to finish. I don't keep track of hours.
Just a month? That's impressive. The weathered look (color variation) on the roof really caught my eye.
