I'm still going through my truck vehicles. Just finished these items. Carolina drop bottom pup from those old Atlas pup trailers. Modified Classic Metal Works tractor. Two Atlas Preferred 45s with roof and side patch repairs as suggested by daniel_leavitt in another thread. I spray painted some clear decal paper various colors and cut them out as needed to make the patches. Sort of like creating your own trim film. And in keeping with the steam theme this week, here is a steam reefer train on the old Sydney N Scale layout. Engine and train by TB member Jason.
Another Milwaukee Road findings trip yielded Loweth Substation #2: And a haunting image of a once proud railroad, now reduced to a few scattered ghosts:
Up on the Arizona Divide the railfans are getting their first looks at two 'brand new' things in July '72 - the GE U36C's delivered only a month before, and the brand-new "Yellowbonnet" scheme. But they better be careful, and take that camera down, because back at the campsite: Over at Flagstaff, a 3300-class GP35 is found basking in front of the depot. Those were the best 4-axle power they had that year, and they were all over the system. That's my two projects for the week - the tent is painted paper, the bears are repainted Woodland Scenics. Black bears are one of the few things in nature that are really glossy if you've ever seen one in sunlight. The GP35 is an old Atlas Kato classic; this weeks project was adding more detail, detail painting, and finally getting up enough courage to weather it.
For me this week, 2009 09 19 This weekend is the 2nd US-theme Model Railroad Convention in Germany taking place near Frankfurt, Germany (Rodgau): US-Modellbahn-Convention Here are a few photos photos from the 2007 1st edition that I was so fortunate to be able to visit: The Fremo HO layout: The amazing "Somewhere West" N scale layout by Lucien Wiss, owned by Daniel Roth: Photo of good model railroad friends, we are all part of a worldwide community - I hope we are increasing the bonds of a human community in pursuit of a better world for all, from left to right, Eugene Haensler, John Sing, Lucien Wiss, and Daniel Roth: More pictures from 2007 at: 1st US-theme Model RR Convention in Germany Oct 6-7, 2007 Photo Gallery by ATSF_Arizona John Sing at pbase.com My best wishes to Horst Meier, the main organizer, his team, and all the attendees, for a successful and enjoyable convention.
John, those are magnificent scenes, thank you. I especially like the Fremo HO scene. Obviously the lower track is abandoned or rarely used seeing the person walking in the middle of the track.
Thanks to a work policy that won't allow me to carry unused vacation days into next year, I have several three-day weekends coming up. First one was this weekend. A Friday home alone gave me lots of time on the layout. I managed to get most of the crossovers in place for the "eastern" side. Everything's soldered, and the roadbed is glued down. The larger sheets you see will be trimmed to fit once the glue dries. The double-decker bridge is taking shape:
I looked at this and my stomach started doing twirlies. I guess my fear of heights kicked in. Looked so real like I was about to fall off a roof or something.
