I will get this going early as I will be busy most of the day setting up our club NTRAK layout for the San Jacinto Layout tour this weekend. For the tour I finished up an old project that had been "in progress" ever since Model Expo was dumping LL GP-20 for very little $. These are old Kato F-3 shells that I had in the junk box. I created a frame to addapt them to the LL chassis. I cast up a bunch of frames and painted the shells for my tourist excursion train.
Nice shot! Almost makes me want to cry that I didn't pick up more than one of those GP20's at the time. It's still one of the smoothest runners I have. You did a real nice job converting them. I have run out of new pictures to post, so I'll just have to be a cheerleader this week. Until the great annual leaf battle is over, I won't have much time for the layout.
Photo Lighting! What kind of lighting do you use when photographing scenes on your layout? WHat is a good lighting system to use? I have the worst luck with lighting!!! Is it my digital camera??? Should I place it on a certain settings before photographing my Trains? Thanks! Hobo Tim
I shot that photo without a flash, and used the cameras auto focus. There was a double flouresent light behind me about 8ft high, and two 100 watt Flood lights at the top of the garage, about 20 ft high. (I found these really make the water look realistic.)
Maybe I can post early and often this weekend. These are from 1995 Belmont Shore Club open house. There are many people and guests at those meetings, so I don't know who made these N scale models. Not bad work, though. There are some really great modelers in the SoCal area. ATSF GP60B BN SD40-2B (I suppose?) Those were some great times!
I have not been in the mood to do much imaging or modelling, so this image is all I'm good for this week. Because of the geometry of the layout, this vista lets other things get in the way....walls, the unpainted outer liner of the layout, and all the other tracks below, including a large gap where my lift-out section needs to be hidden with bushes and such. Anyway, I hoped to be able to show a nice curving coal drag.
Here is the photo that didnt make this weekends photo challenge, you can see my entry at this link Weekend Photo Challenge
Here's an oldie, in honor of our Google Earth contests. This is before I replaced the turntable with the Walthers version. The weathering on the roof occurred naturally over 20 years. It's just real dust and dirt.
Here are some photos of the upper area where the bridge exists. I am pretty much done with this area having ballasted the track and added the flora details. These photos are washed out for some reason. I even darkened them up on photo shop first. I bought a new Fugi Finepix 8000fd and my indoor photos seem to be way too bright set on Auto. My finger was not covering the light meter as I had originally thought. It may be the flourescent lighting in my basement but why did I not have this problem with my previous Canon S2is? I still have to put the foot pads on the bridge legs but I want to wait until I am sure I am done removing the bridge for work. Tomorrow night I will post some photos of the rough rock terrain and foreground I am doing on the peninsula.
