A "Bull Moose" 4-4-2 kit bashed out of a Rivarossi Pacific. Somewhere in West Texas. The 1488 ended its days on the Amarillo to Lubbock passenger local in the early 1950s.
Looks very nice Russell. Panhandle dust devil behind the engine, I see? Harriman roofs, too. Still working on my Walthers Difco Dump cars. Here is one with a Woodland Scenics rock load. Weathering next.
That is the original color; CSX, I think. I just did a patch job renumbering on this one and a grey Espee, too.

SP LifeLike SD7 model photos, taken in Feb 2004, three and a half years ago: And this was taken in Oct 2004, three years ago: Both shots were taken when the layout looked like this, before the Kato Unitrack was ballasted: Here's a similar angle on the layout, taken January 2006: Amazing how time passes. Someday soon, I gotta get back to more scenicking and detailing on the layout itself. The past year it's been all weathering and detailing on specific models. Speaking of model projects, I have another thread going on (slowly) that one (a Santa Fe GP7B project) over at: Atlas Model Railroad Co. - Des Plaines GP7B kit - any experiences to share?
Thanks Flash. The Santa Fe had no stinken Harrimans. Those would be "Standard" clerestory roofs. The Southern Pathetic on the other hand had bunches of them.

I have resorted to a theme that got some favourable comments a short time back. You may recall the PRR J1 emerging from a natural stone portal? So, this is along those lines, but obviously different.

Note the dents on the car sides. I hope to end up with something like this, but worse The paint was supposed to be very faded, but the mix came out darker than I'd hoped. The bent grabs add to the effect, but those are due more to my ineptitude than to any intentional weathering
How did you do the dents? I am always afraid of using something too hot and melting the car. On the paint color, you could mask it and paint again. That might give more variation. I always like these nice kitbashes. :thumbs_up:
Flash, The dents were made with various screwdrivers, which I heated with a lighter and pushed into the shell. I did manage to melt a couple of holes in the roof, but some filler putty solved that
