Normally I don't beg for submissions, but I happen to know that Mr. Joe D'Amato caught some video of UP's special move over the Siskyous line today. Maybe he will be able to contribute a few stills. Because GEVOs and an SD70M going over the summit and through Ashland is not something any of us expected to see any time soon. Sometimes the railfan benefit's from the Railroad's misfortunes. Having said that, Gotta post something. Here's an SD70M (T1) and a pair of rebuilt SD59MX leaving Roseville on the Redding Turn a few weeks back.
It's been overcast and rainy for many days in the southeast, so I've not been railfanning in weeks. So, into the grab bag for this May 2017 shot of an NS freight arriving in Columbia, SC's Andrews Yard led by the 708, an RP-E4C Slug built from former GP-38 NS 2943.
Borg yellow doesn't reach this far north routinely; UP doesn't serve North Dakota, and runthru UP power occasionally strays onto CP tracks thru Minot, but on BNSF it's rare. A UP EMD led an autorack train into Minot and it sits in the east storage yard waiting for a crew on 2 Jun 18:
Promised you guys something a little different this week and hope this delivers: Factory fresh and still dripping wet, brand new Roy Hill ES44ACi #RHA 1022 on the GE test track in Justin, Tx 5/31/18 with new rebuild CP 8139. This unit will be heading home to Australia soon. Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk
At first I was thinking "Roy Hill" was the name of a person. That must actually be the name of the operation? Probably a mining company? Perhaps out in the western area of Australia?
Ken, you are absolutely correct. Check out the Roy Hill website. Also the Wiki discussion about Roy Hill.
A line up of SP power south of Hearne, Texas. With a rent-a-wreck thrown in for good measure. Circa 1990.
That pink unit really does stand out from a crowd. Russ, SP of that era would put anything that would run on a train. Your photo is so typical for the era!
