Last Week, GE and UP sent 2 of the ES44AC-Tier 4 demonstrators over the Sierras to test how they performed in the summit tunnel. They've been doing testing all week and I happened to see them just behind Denios this morning. Those radiators are huge. Coming around the other side, I noticed something that had been hiding in the yard for over a year now. I don't know why the newly rebuilt from the ground up plow was out on display, but I took advantage. Also, If anyone knows where that particular Jordan Spreader regularly works I'd be curious. It isn't a Donner unit which look very different and carry SP MW reporting marks. I've never seen it before so I assume It's not a Cascades or Feather River unit either.
I finally got to run a real train. (well sort of) This Sheffield Velocipede is and ex Kansas City Southern vehicle.
Russell, that's great. I knew you were a certified BLE member, and you didn't even need a Pilot....LOL
Doyle's PA1 NKP 190 is supposedly heading back through this vicinity. Tentatively Sunday afternoon. Am hoping to find a way to catch it again for some photos.
CN/IC 2456 was part of a dozen C40-8W rent-a-wreck units from LMSX. Eleven of the units were purchased back in October of 2012. The other? Retired after a wreck in January 2012. Russell, that ain't horsepower, that's mule power!
And it doesn't look like Conrail, it is a Conrail unit. They canoodled some ex atsf superfleet Warbonnets too.
So, it turns out, that snowplow was NOT the recently rebuilt one. (Not surprising given the number was wrong. It is one of the 2 that was sitting inactive in Roseville for years that had no power car. They repainted it and just this morning, they lifted it onto a display track right behind that SP Steamer that marks the start of Roseville's downtown and the yard. Didn't get a picture, because we were in a Rush, but will grab one tomorrow.
