Cal Northern Genset makes it way north past rice paddys and Interstate 5. Former SP tracks in the Sacramento valley. Somewhere north of Woodland and South of Red Bluff.
Nostalgia this time. Yesterday I found a few slides from a Fall morning we spent at the Burlington Northern Railroad depot in New Westminster, British Columbia. At that time it was a very busy place. Aside from BN action, there were also CN and CP trains rolling by us. This was nearly thirty five years ago. CN 5172 with a transfer run:
A wonderful collection so far. Those GenSets are quite unique in appearance, and that TX bridge looks like it was painted a rust color!
Some great photos! Some of them look like they were designed by a committee... Nice to see one of CN's original SD40s hauling trains... That must have been prior to 1995, when it was rebuilt and renumbered 6025. And it's still in service!
Low angle sun of Fall, 1980. Wish I had a better slide scanner. This thing is pathetic. Colors wash out and all shows up as being grainy.
Cajon 10/19/14 Blue Cut [IM ][/IMG] Hill 582 Downgrade on track 2. [/IMG] Hill 582 with Silverwood cutoff in the distance and the turn into Summit in the upper right. Note the three cuts. The UP is running downgrade on BNSF track #3. [/IMG]
A couple short videos. The first video starts of looking downgrade from Summit then pans around toward the Summit. Note the train in the middle track at the end. I was disabled for some time. The second video is from Hill 582. We were lucky to have trains pass on 1 and 2 twice on this afternoon.
Dunno about anyone else, but I like the yellow "CSX" on engine sides. Much easier to see than blue. Esepcially when there is a coat of grime.
