2005 Southbend Indiana: The Heritage of this UP SD40-2 is undeniable as it blasts into town. the Smile just makes it even more fun. Reminds me of a Jack in the Box Antenna Ball.
Denver and Rio Grande Western This is old D&RGW roadbed that is currently above water due to the drought we have been having here in recent years. Lisa and I hike this section for awhile and then turned back before ever reaching where the water is once again over the old ROW. This area is now the Curecanti National Recreation Area and normally the water level behind the dam would have all this submerged.
Somewhere I have a nose photo taken by a UP Conductor I knew. The shield had been altered to read "Utterly Pathetic".
This BNSF S-SEALPC train, (on MRL), had just crawled through a slow order due to a switch being repaired. Now he has it in the high notch and is really making up time. At Turah, Montana last month:
Close! The Curecanti Needle (D&RGW Logo) is roughly at 38°26′56″N 107°24′51″W and my photo is of the Lake Fork Spur in that same canyon. We were about 10 miles ENE as the crow flies or about 38°24'12"N / 107°14'52"W when we stopped hiking in on the spur. I have more photos that will be posted in my Travel Blog soon from this trip that will include other sections of the D&RGW that is currently above water as well as the Curecanti Needle. I will also go more in depth of this RRAdventures trip in a future chapter of my "RRAdventures with Darren and Lisa" topic here on TrainBoard.
