BNSF and UP agreed to keep stricter emissions standards in California which means that I have to travel to Portland to see a GP39M rebuild now adays.
That photo reminded me of my one and only sighting of a GP30 way back in the 1970s, in a CPR consist going through my town. Most of the traffic through here at that time was MLW RS18s. Nice to see one of those old beasts still running in one form or another.
They must have been doing track maintenance on both the BNSF and UP somewhere around here yesterday. I was at the Museum all day and only saw this empty 1267 (crude oil) on the BNSF and Amtrak #2 come through on the UP during daylight. However between dusk and 10PM, when I left, there were over 20 trains.
I'd imagine they're cramming in every minute of work they can right now, so causing long windows. It's sure happening up here and if weather holds true, in less than 36 hours, they sure won't be doing anything for a while.
Don't seem as though it would do much good. There's nobody riding the train back there to see any results....
Oh, Candy... :cute: Though I fail to grasp how not lifting one's skirt can be considered flirting... does that mean that lifting it is not flirting? Male brain confused...
Saturday in Rosenberg was much more busy all day long. A little excitement when a dispatcher screwed up and changed his mind after a BNSF was given permission to cross the UP. "Oops, we have an east bound UP coming, better hold." The BNSF was already at the 3rd street crossing but got her stopped before hitting the diamond. Ended up blocking 3rd street for 15 minutes before getting clearance to move again. Here is a BNSF auto train with a CSX C40-8 in the consist coming the other way in late afternoon.
WOW. Big time error. In years gone by, someone would have more than just their toes in boiling water.
