Well, my Daughter is a month old tonight. It's been a crazy 4 weeks.

Still not much time to get out and about, but I did have some time to go through old photos.

I believe this picture was from 2005. An October trip back home to Chicago which was rare back then. We did August and December pretty exclusively. It was also the last year I had my Nikon N60 SLR. That Christmas I got my D50. So back then I didn't know a photo was bad until I got it back from processing.

As you can see, this one has been enhanced to within an inch of it's life. Lots of noise in the nose.

But that Camera, like these SD20 rebuilds, is long gone.

I also changed camera about that time. In early 2007, I swapped my Ricoh KR5 for a Pentax K100D. Much better to know if your photo is good on the spot!

And on the subject of spotting - look what I found last August 20th, lurking in the Exporail museum shop:

Last year's Diesel Weekend star, Roberval & Saguenay RS-2 #20, built in 1949, which had been slumbering for 20 years in the museum's building #5 before their volunteers raised it from its long sleep for the parade on a rainy Saturday last September. Love those classic Alco lines! Is there another wakeup call in the works? Who knows?

I sure hope so. Listening to that venerable old 244 gurgling and clattering along was a real treat!

image.jpeg image.jpeg In Austin this weekend working on the passenger car again. Will see how the generator works now that the crud has been cleaned out of the fuel tank. This will be our power for today's shake down cruise.

Russell, is that part of the AAPRCO fleet, or does the museum own them all?

Some of the cars are owned buy the Austin Steam Train Association while the rest are leased from private parties. Ours belongs to the Gulf Coast Chapter of the NRHS.

Thanks. Regardless of ownership, they all are good looking. Do you have a video/audio with 442 contentedly burbling to herself, and/or working?

I tried, but the sound quality did not pick up the low frequency rumble. Rats.
