Did anyone here take part in either Carl Franz' or Dave Goodheart's winter photo specials on the WM, featuring the prolific steamer 734? There have been some awesome photos posted elsewhere on the web. Can we see some here? [IMG]

Totally underwhelmed with enthusiastic responses, he tries again. :(
OK, did anyone in the San Francisco Bay area attend the dual steam up of 2467 and 2472 at Hunter's Point today????

    Jim,
ole buddy I would have went. Me an my Cousin were planing to go to see the WM picture fest but... The weather here was nasty an cold, sub zero wind chills so we didn't go.... I about missed this topic too! ERR sorry about that!

I My cousin an I were going till the weather got really dangerously cold so.. Its amazing that they didn't cancel that. Being below zero temperatures an all... Very dangerous temps an all plus the wind chill made it worse... They picked a bad time to have that. It would have been great tho otherwise being snow on the ground an nothing like a steamer in the snowy weather but the dang cold cut me out of it... I'm still wishing I would have went tho.. lookin' like an Eskimo.... :D But would have been worth it! But I couldn't talk my cousin into it so. I lost out on that one..

John, I understand your apprehension at the cold, but that's what makes those fantastic plumes when steam runs in that cold. :D

    Jim,
I know it! I tied talking him into going but it was too cold for his blood as he told me. HA! But I tell ya 15 to 20 below zero wind chill factor is nasty cold! BUT imagine the old girl huffyin the plumes an condensation skyward! Man I'da loved it even tho I'da froze in the process getting the pictures. But my traveling anything other then around town is out my cars not worth a whole lot in the weather with a hald nasty fuel pump, and I believe I also have a bad fuel line, thats soon gonna make me a leak. So I don't trust to far outta town, untill it either 1. gets warm enough to crawl under it or 2. I find a friend with a heated garage to put it in to work on it. Then it won't be so bad, and I'll be able to get it fixed so I can go on long trips other then around town.
