I'm looking for more information on the Western Maryland, specifically in the Cumberland area. Can anyone reccomend a book that might cover the history of the road in this area? Any help would be appreciated.

    Brian,
I can point you in the right direction! Let me get a list of books to post for you to find at your local library, that the books are based on the Wild Mary, in cumberland..... Their are a bunch of good ones! But I don't have not one WM book! :( Mine are all B&O! :D Being It wasn't hard to get B&O books but the WM it is, an they aren't cheap! I seen one of the WM "In the Steam Era" and another WM "In the diesel era" and they were reprints selling for $75 a book! And the original copies of it sell for $150 a book! Hard bound books but not very thick, around 200 pages I think, (if I remember corectly)...

Let me see if I can come up with some book tittles for you to look for at your local library...

    Brian,
I could have swore I seen a book descreetly depicking Cumberland and ya know, every book I looked at an know the title of doesn't just focus on Cumberland but the entire line with a section for Cumberland. I would say to go to your local library and look up the Western Maryland, an see what they have. If they don't have anything then have them do a book search to have the book mailed to them for you to sign it out.

I can't get over my brain. I could have swore someone wrote a book specifically on the Western Maryland in Cumberland... What was I thinkin'! [IMG]

Carstens has CUMBERLAND & PENNSYLVANIA book that is in print and goes for less than ten bucks at discount hobby shops. It is germane and place to start, if you have no other.

You can buy back copies of W M Hist. Soc. mag and other materials from them. Joining would be good idea if you are interested in RR there or any place else.
