This morning's Longview Daily News has a front page story about hte closing of the Green Mountain mill. This means there will be no railservice on teh woods railroad past Headquarters.
The woods railroad was used to haul rough cut lumber and chips to the mill in Longview for finish planing and the chips for paper.
There is a trash train that runs from the Longview mill to a landfill at Headquarters.
To my knowledge the Weyerhaeuser Longview railroad is the last one in the northwest after the closing of the Simpson Timber line at Shelton.

So they've already shut down? Argh. I'd hoped to get out to that area in the coming weeks. Bummer.

Buddy of mine documented the last month of operations. On the last day he got a cab ride, plus was highrailed to his favorite photo locations. All the crews were working their last day anyway.

Is he a member here? Any chance he could share a few views?

Dan- Did you receive my e-mail? I keep getting bounce messages. Unable to deliver....

    Ken,
He is saving all his shots for a book on the Weyerhauser line. Won't even give me a peek.

    Dan

PS. Ken, check your email. I tried again.

Argh. What coverage? Just that one line? I wish someone would do a book on all of the Weyerhaeuser lines. That would be special!

    Just replied to your e-mail...
