The Weyerhaeuser railroad in Longview Wn. has been sold to a private operator. Not sure who though. Parked near the fence along Industrial Way in Longview are several Weyerhaeuser SW1200 and SW1500 units and a couple of cabooses. The lettering has been painted out but other wise the paint is intact.
All of Weyco's RR's were bought by Patriot Rail. The Weyco woods RR will be known as Patriot woods RR LLC and the CLC will be known as CLC LLC. This happened right around the first of the year.
Believe I have also read their plans are to have the Woods RR eventually folded into the Columbia & Cowlitz. Boxcab E50
That wouldn't surprise me at all since the last couple years Weyco would sometimes have a CLC loco on the train to landfill. It only makes sense from a business standpoint to make it all one entity.
So, if a railfan was out watching trains with someone named Elle, this could be spoken: "See, Elle? It's CLC, LLC! See? I'll just step back from the keyboard now...
A update on the Weyerhaeuser line in Longview. The former logging line from Headquarters to Green Mountain has been abandon and the track removed.
What is happening lately? I have heard a trash train may be continuing. Or the whole line may go. Any news?
Ken- The last I heard was that Patriot Rail sold ALL of their lines to (dangit can't remember now) and supposedly they were thinking of abandoning the line from Rocky Point to Landfill. The line from Landfill to the former Green Mtn mill (about 12 mile) was removed about 2 years ago.
