After reading the thread about we each got into N and the thread on N's popularity, I'm curious as to the spread of our ages ... ?

You left Wayne out. I don't think he's into N Scale though. [IMG]

Actually I did give thought to adding a tenth choice below 90-99 entitled "Watash", but my Mommy taught me to be sensitive and considerate of my Elders. :D :D

This is an interesting poll. The vast majority of N Scalers are below 50. It would be interesting to complare this with the average age of HO scalers. In this case I suggest that we would find that the majority of HO'ers are 40 and above.

If this is the case it would appear that N scale will continue to gain popularity. Seems to make sense. Of course unless N scale availability improves as noted in another poll this may not occur.

This is an interesting point. I've read about, and have experinced how LHS seem reluctant to expand their N-scale offerings. A LHS near me will only increase their N-scale stock based on what they order through Walthers for their customers.

But since this poll seems to indicate that N-scale modelers are on the younger side, they may be more inclined to do their shopping on the internet. It would be interesting if there was a way to find out the overall percentage of sales per scale done on-line. I suspect N-scale might win out on this...

Availablity will improve when and only when N-Scale purchassing improves and right now N-Scale is not selling like the HO is. I, like a lot of serious N-Scalers here in Florida, do a lot of our large purchases (engines) at train shows and some train shops cannot deal with that. My favorite shop knows this fact and is dealing with and is doing well enough (yes he'd like to be doing better but then who wouldn't!).

I like questions with a 30-39 option. I only have a month and half left to select it!!

    Not that I'm dreading turning 40 or anything [ :( ]

I'm 43. But if my wife answered this pole she'd probably say 12. :D

Interesting ... the curve is beginning to skew towards the 40-49 and 50-59 groups. Dunno if this means anything, though. [IMG]

The problem with the poll is you have to determine if those who frequent forums are the same population as those who participate in the hobby.

As someone mentioned, This poll is probably weighted (?) toward the 30-39 age group, as this age group is probably more active in using web forums. Interesting that the poll is making a perfect bell curve...
