All of you folks from Atlas and N scale--Are there any New York Central fans? (Brian, I'm sorry I didn't answer your question. I don't know what the colors were then.) This is the cover of the latest New York Central System Historical Society's publication, the Central Headlight. Yes, I know it's copywrighted, but I think the NYCSHS would appreciate the exposure! Here's the question. This magnificent J-3 Hudson has two little "cans" on the pilot with pipes running to them. What are they? They are just below the smokebox door, near center. LEW, you can't answer.
Modified exhaust system as this particular locomotive was featured on "Pimp My Train" Welcome to the era of 'rice trains'
jason.... thats a good one man, you really made me laugh there.... but arent those supposed to be folgers coffee cans?
Those are the filters for the air compressors that are located behind the sheilds that you see next to the steps that lead up to the walkways.
Jeff, you win the non-cash prize. That would be to put another shot on here with some weird item for folks to identify.
Well, I know that some steamers did end up equipped with air horns. But darned if I can see enough detail in this picture to say there is one..... Boxcab E50
In front of the dome in front of the cab right above the railing. What a beautiful loco not to be preserved!
Brian, that's it. I was embarrassed a couple of years ago when I asked where it was, and someone produced this photo, from MY website, to show me!
