I am on N scale and I am planning to buy camera for the cab ride video. is there any recommendation you guys have for it? how do you do it in your layout? Thanks!
I would like to know as well, I have seen some rather good clear vids on YouTube but no one has ever answered when I asked what cam.
I had one...a small usb rerchargeable camera... https://www.bigsecurity.com/usb-dri...html?msclkid=7c3b1287c17d1b2ef0934d71cdc875a1 Double sided sticky tape kept it attached to a flatbed freight car just fine. It recorded some really decent video. The locomotive would simply push said car around the layout while it recorded to an SD card inserted in the camera. That being said.... I havent used it in a iot in years. I tried to charge the camera via USB charger recently. The camera wouldnt charge now...
I think I spent $16 on a cheap one like this: https://www.amazon.com/Hidden-Cameras-Detection-Portable-Security/dp/B089GX8C8W Names, prices and claims for identical-looking cameras were all over the place on Amazon. It claims to be 1080 resolution, maybe with bright lighting that would be the case but I didn't see any difference on my layout compared to the 720 setting. It was worth $16 just to see my layout from a different POV. Note it records to a TF (a type of SD) card which came with the one I bought. The result:
Even some of the newer dash cams for in your car now are so small, and the ones for back-up cameras in license plates frames.
If I remember one of the members from CINTRAK had a camera car that would transmit strait to a TV. We was set up next to their layout. He put the car on our layout and people was watching the TV and did not know were it was at. Hope somebody from their club would respond.
