    Although I am not to knowledgeable about the Southern Pacific, I will take a logical gander at this one and say that it was used as MOW equipment (noted by the signature SPMW on the side?) and was probably used to spray herbicide (weed killer) along the trackage. Whether I am correct or not , it would make a cool scratchbuild!

    The S on the side seems to denote sulfur.

    Something of a sulfurous base.

    I believe that is a weed sprayer! If not a weed sprayer its a tunnel sprayer to rid the walls and ceiling of deteriorating polutants from the steamers they used with oil burners , if its that i'd say it more then likely has a light acid in it to wash the concrete or what not.

    It may be a weed sprayer (Agent Orange)? But I also wonder if it might be for spraying hot creosote on tressles? It may have been a molten sulfur car in service, that has now been converted to MOW service. ???
