I have fond memories of my dad and I visiting the small Amish community of Sugarcreek, Ohio and riding the steam train. I was planning a return visit and wanted to take my wife, but it looks like the train ride is gone now? All I see in the area is this "TheAgeOfSteamRoundhouse" thing which looks like some billionaire's private collection and is closed to the public. What happened? There was a popular tourist railroad last time I was there, sad to see it gone.
I'm not familiar with the ride you mentioned. I've heard something about that "Age Of Steam..." venture. Thought it was supposed to eventually open to the public?
This is not substantiated by fact, but I think the Sugarcreek steam train you refer to is past excursions run on the Ohio Central RR when Jerry Jacobson operated the railroad. Jerry has since sold the ROW and has moved his privately owned steam locomotives and a lot of other stuff to his Age of Steam Roundhouse that he has had constructed with his own funds. It is magnificent, and remeniscent of old roundhouses. Not open to the public yet, if ever.
