A finely detailed plastic N&W Class A 2-6-6-4 from Lifelike or Athearn. I just can't afford the brass ones, and nobody else makes one.

What would you like to see?

You steam guys are starting to get spoiled with all this quality plastic stuff that is out for sale. I bet Life-Like would do an articulated x-6-6-x which would probably include the Challenger and the A class, among others. Athearn seems content doing USRA designs right now.

For me, I have my favorite loco (UP SD70M), I'd like to get one with the flag scheme. I guess an AC6000CW or an SD70MAC would be what I'm looking for next.

I don't understand why you would not like to see more of them. I have one of all the new steam engines except the just released 0-6-0t from Bachmann and the Athearn 4-6-2. They are all great engines, although the Athearn mikado does have some tracking issues. The Life-Like engines run very nicely and are comparable to brass. My favorite is still the Bachmann Shay. Mine runs great and cost about 1/5 of what a decent brass cost and looks as goods as a brass shay.

I gave up waiting for that Athearn SD70MAC a long time ago ;)

The new big plastic steam sure is nice, but i can't afford any of it right now :(

    I'd love to see a good EM-1 (2-8-8-4) B&O and even a good B&O 2-6-6-2 and or a 2-6-6-4 by Rivarossi! :D

Heheheh....my wish list is more like a grocery list. ;) A shortened version would be:

    Steam: SP AC-9 articulated

Diesel: toss-up between GE B30-7 and EMD MP15AC (I really need to finish the kitbashes I'm doing of these, to increase the odds of a maker doing them :D ). Those, and an Alco RSD-15 "Gator" would be nice.

Freight car: Another toss-up; either a Trinity Backpacker well car, or Gunderson 3-unit articulated All-Purpose well car.

    Next? [IMG]

I'd like to see some of the Western Maryland's best steamers come from either Rivarossi or Athearn Genesis lines like the H-9 2-8-0 Consolidations and the I-2 2-10-0 Decapods. Also the Rivarossi S1a 2-10-2 Baltimore & Ohio Santa Fe type,(a.k.a. Big Six) be rereleased with the new drives, that would be awsome!!! :D :D :D And the B&O's 2-8-8-4 EM-1 !!! I'm Already waiting patiently(HA HA HA!!) for the Allegheny to come from Rivarossi!

Black Cloud.. .I am with you friend. Last summer when I opened my C&O Hist. Soc monthly magazine and saw the Society's offering of the C&O H8 Allegheny, I about... well... let's just say I couldnt order/reserve one fast enough.

Since I am a C&O "buff" (1948-1955), I would LOVE to see Life Like or Bachman come out w/ a F7 PhII in the C&O low wave paint scheme. Complete w/ B units of course. Not many good looking C&O F7's out there from the early years. Stewart had one, but good luck scowering the shows looking for something Stewart hasnt produced in several years now.

I would REALLY like to see Life Like do one and offer it to the C&O historical society in the same way they offered the Life Like GP7's. That is... the paint scheme is completely accurate for the C&O era without the numbers. The C&O sells the engine w/ Microscale decals so the modeler can assign whatever number he/she wishes.

Until then... I will just keep looking for a good looking undec'd F7 that I can purchase in fleet volume and fire up the old air brush. Since Champ declared they are soon going out of business, I have been stocking up on thier decals JUST incase I find that "fleet" deal.

THE OTHER thing I would like to see as you ask is Walthers having everything in stock that is in thier catalog.......{{{{{{{{{{{ sigh }}}}}}}}}}}}}}}, now I guess I am REALLY DREAMING

Seeing that I am mainly a N&W fan, I would love to see more hi-hoods. I wish to thank Atlas for the nice hi-hood GP-40's and the SD-35's that are coming out. Now if I can only get a decent SD-45 hi-hood and a GP-30 hi hood I would be all set.

Oh, I also second the ALCO "gators".

Speaking of ALCO, how about some T-1 Switchers or good running switchers peiod. I have an EMD SW-9 from Proto-2k. NCE makes a nice decoder for it. I only wish I would have bought another SW9 when I had the chance.

Like the high hood SD45 idea, very cool!
Had you heard that Stewart is doing high hood C628/C630's.....?

    My list:

    Alco
    C636 (Stewart?)
    RSD15

    EMD
    SD38
    SD39
    SD38-2
(And before you'all say those are minority loco's, there are some really good schemes on them :D The MP15's previously mentioned would be a good bet too.

    GE
    B??-7 series
    C40-8/W series

    Anyhow, just some thoughts [IMG]

I'd like to second Martyn on the C636. I model SP&S in 68 and 69 and those puppies are a BIG gap in my roster. Maybe someone can get Rail Power Products to do a C636 shell to go on the Stewart Mechanisim. I mean, if they can do thr C32-8, and there were only 10 of those, why not our beloved 636? . Also from Stewart, an early model VO1000 with the round grille would be nice. Beyond that, getting manufacturers to paint stuff in SP&S. I'm sure other shortline modellers feel my pain on this one.

    Hey another SP&S fan!!!
One of the scenario's I model is BN in the northwest in 71/72 with lots of patch renumbered SP&S/GN/NP loco's and a few clean BN machines, I'd love a pair of 636's, one in BN and one in SP&S  Trouble is my other main scenario is Midwestern 1970's, and the IC orange & white version would be good for that, so I could see myself having quite a few of that type.
Hmm, explaining this makes me realize that I just like too much stuff :D

I think my wish is just a little bit more basic.....

I wish I had enough time to really do a good job and "wallow" in my hobbies.

I wish I had enough money to do all I wanted.

I wish I had enough space to really build a bang-up layout, like maybe a large loft above my 3-car garage & workshop? I'd have to take out the master bedroom though to do it :( Mark

I just wish someone would make a Baldwin centepede shell kit, or at least the nose. I could kitbash the rest. While I can't afford brass, I could swing a resin kit. Oh well, probably will never happen.

I agree about those big high nose diesels. I have a Southern SD-45 that I'm kitbashing. It would be nice if Atlas would re-tool and re-release the SD-24s as well. Those big Alcos are nice but with my budget, way down on the list.

<font color="336633">Martyn, do you have any photos of your models? i noticed you used to have photopoint.

if you do id love to see some, my era is just outside the "patched" stage of BN although im going to have 2 exceptions, an FA1 in SP&S and a 44t in CB&Q

Sadly not good pics at present, I've been concentrating on south western stuff for Rock Springs for a couple of years.
I will try & post some when/if the photo hosting issue is sorted  and my digi-camera comes back from being repaired for the second time!!!

The early BN was my first US outline modelling, the early BN fleet is something like:

    BN6601 - F45 in GN blue - Athearn
    BN6421 - SD45 in NP Black - Modified Bachmann
BN4241 - C424 in BN Green - Atlas repainted (original paint job was Awful!)
    BN1941 - GP9 in BN Green - P2K
    BN18?? - GP9 in GN, part completed P2K
    BN1?? - SW9 in NP Black - P2K
    BN4100 - FA1 in SP&S - Walthers, Part detailed
    BN4120 - FA1 in SP&S - Walthers, Part detailed
There's also a dummy WP U28B in that fleet for pool power.
the question marks are where I don't recall the number offhand & they're in the garage at the mo.

The '45s usually run as a pair, the geeps run either as a pair or singly, and the C424 & pair of FA1's run as a set. If some C636's turn up they'll go with the C424 though & I'll demote the FA's to local work.

I think other than the C636's, a mixed bag of rusty F's is the only major hole in the fleet, but as I've nowhere to run the northwest stuff at present there's little incentive to add to it, thet's the reason that some of those are listed as "part finished" and have been for a couple of years :( Rock Springs II looks like it might be midwest based, so the BN Alco's still won't get a look in.

Ah well [IMG] Biding my time.

Hey Martyn, what scale do you run? I'm in the middle of making several SP&S passenger cars in HO and may soon have a source for car sides for the Mt. Hood / Mt. St. helens 6-3-lounge cars. I'm working on a full SP&S #1/2 consist, and if I could find more aluminum passenger car shells I might finish it someday!

All in HO scale. I did briefly consider doing a BN pre-Amtrak passenger train, but never did anything about it, The only passenger equipment I have for that scenario is a representation of the SP&S combine/cabooses they used on the Bend trains 'till Amtrak started.

I used a Bachmann combine and removed most of the rivets and added a loco style all weather window, looks fairly good but I never got around to decalling it. It should have a door/steps at the other end as well, if I was doing another I would have used their coach & plated over windows and cut a baggage door into it.

Mixed trains are cool [IMG] I like it that Amtrak has brought them back :D
