I started a thread in the Canadian Pacific forum but I guess folks don't visit often:
    http://www.trainboard.com/ultimatebb.php/ubb/get_topic/f/28/t/000321.html

I get the impression that the term applies to AC4400s but is it used with other locomotives? The reason I ask is I'll be having a couple of Grant's F45s painted up in CP. I'm just wondering if they qualify. I expect Visualy they will appear as massive due to the volume they occupy.
    Thanks

AC4400CWs are not "red barns". The term is only used for the SD40-2F depicted above, an engine for which no ready-to-run plastic model exists.

    Hello to all,
What a great site! My dad is one of your newest members "Ol Hoghead". Although pretty new to the computer, he'll do his best to keep up. He is a retired Union Pacific locomotive engineer with 43 years experience. He has been retired since 1983. If you add things up you can see that he hired out in the days of steam. His dad, my grandfather, was also an engineer for Union Pacific, with 50 years of service. My dad's brother, my uncle, retired as a conductor with 37 years of service, again with the Union Pacific. Many changes, both on the road and the service itself, according to my nephew, my dad's grandson who is a conductor on today's railroad. So, as you can see, we come from railroading blood.
Smiles to all, Ol' Hoghead's daughter

Hi , and welcome to TrainBoard. Sounds like your family has much to contribute with history and all. Look forward to your progress, pictures and rail notes. I am new also and enjoy meeting MRRs from all over. My dad built box cars for a short time for CN at the Montreal yards. That's the closest I got to trains. Now I am planning a layout and thoroughly enjoy it.
    Have a good one.

Hello Hoghead, welcome to Trainboard! This is a great website. I'm a conductor for union pacific. I work out of the North littlerock service unit. I know a lot of of mopac hogheads that retired about the middle 80's. I'm 31 years old,so I still have 29 years to go before i can retire. Thats a long time!

Marcus: Since you work the Van Buren sub, I was wondering if the yard office in Van Buren is new? [IMG] As I remember in Feb '04 while pacing 3985 the yard office was a small brick structure. Last week when I went back to photograph some structures in the area much to my suprise there was this very modern structure in its place.
    Thanks

Sorry that post was off topic. [IMG] You just don't find someone with first hand knowledge of the area being modeled. [IMG]
