No, not that big. '65 Rambler Classic. If it had been a Marlin I'd have caught it right off. The car name "Classic" is like the sales pitch "collector's item". If they're called that when new, they'll never become that no matter how old they get.
I do this too and try to pay them in cash so they don't have to give a portion of the sale to a credit card company.
Even happier if my car were that one in the photo. Gorgeous! Having one of those visible gas pumps would be great, too. They're works of art.
That's about right. I remember a family road trip from the early 1970s and we stopped for gas and it was 36 cents a gallon (imperial gallon, 4.5 liters vs US gallon at 3.8 liters). We did a lot of those, including some forays into New York, Vermont and New Hampshire. Odd that my Dad, the incorrigible shutterbug, never took any photos... 5300 slides and not one of our US road trips!
That station must have done a lot of business beyond just pumping gas. Employing so many people is unusual. And this was in an era when very few were open at night.
Must be a grand opening, I see balloons in the background. Wondering what the guys in the white lab coats were doing.....
Brewin' up their "special blend" of "fuel" outta sight of dem dang revenooers... nudge-nudge-wink-wink
