Well, in anticipation of Kato's Genesis and hopefully a Dash 8-32BHW from Atlas in N scale, I would like to see someone come out with decent Amfleet and Horizon coaches in N. Con Cor's Superliners are okay and I am sure Kato's will be fine, but I would like to run a three or five car coach/food service train.

Doug, MDC do a Thrall coal gondola in N and I was under the impression that is a Bathtub-type. If not, what type is it? I may have been referring to it wrongly as one for years!

    Gordon,

First of all, to stay on topic I will comment on some other cars I would like to see... 53' Double Stack Cars and MORE VARIETY OF CONTAINERS. I almost became ill a few days ago when I went to a train show and saw all the various containers you can find in HO from Athearn, et.al. Oh, and a FIVE PACK of JB Hunt containers!!!! Very sad. But I digress.

Second, You are correct. The cars to which I am referring have a rounded bottom and are very similar in design to the current aluminum "coalporters". (and in fact, most of the Utility Fuels cars had the "Coal-veyor" brand name on them). Two main differences are 1. They are steel and 2. They have a distinct "V" support on each end that tapers from the bottom of the "tub" all the way to the top of the car ends. (I have some photos of the UFIX cars and I will post them on my website in the next few days. EDIT: Hey I hit the jackpot, check out http://www.johnstownamerica.com/leasing/brochure/coalveyor.pdf Even has drawings so I can make my own if I have to!!!) From your post, I did a Google search to find additional references that "Miniatures by Eric" has indeed produced this model. I found a website for them but the models do not appear as current production. I have e-mailed them to see what is available.

The high side gons are basically "boxes" with very pronounced external bracing all the way down the car. Very tough looking cars, and MDC does make them in N-scale. (and I have a bunch of 'em!) :D

Guys I have to agree that a RTR Autorack and Hi cubes are my choice. Alan Curtis has done a great service for those of us sitting on poor running Con-cor cars, but lets face facts it's still an expensive proposition and a good deal of work to convert them. I have 5 of each and I don't look forward to it, I can only imagine what the guy with 30 of them must be feeling! The Articulated Autorack could be easly done by Atlas as they already have one done in O Scale, even if it's not dead on, at least they have a start! What would be sweet, is if we could convince Alan to produce a Autorack 'shell' to fit on his frames. He could do the 'modern' enclosed version and the 'early' open version similar to what Accurail produces in HO.

Thanks Doug, Gordon (and Scott) for sorting out my confusion. [IMG]
