Splurged a bit...Micro-Trains second set of the log cars (breaking a rule, road #'s so tiny under logs can't really make em out.
I finally got a new Atlas Shay for my conning logging re. I've wanted one of these for Years. Am building a layout shed to house my layout.
With all the feedback about the shell/cab warping, I had sent an e-mail off to Intermountain about any kind of remedy or fix they may suggest..."crickets" from Intermountain...
Just received update from The Intermountain Team, I was fortunate they have 1 Shell left for my UP#2964 and also located a good shell for the GATX!! They had noted the deformity is a rare condition but have seen on a few units. It's really going to be much more enjoyable running those Intermountain SD40-2s now!!
Received my Hakko FX888D this morning and while I haven't used it yet, it appears to be a very solid unit. Looking forward to it's first job!
I received my e Bay purchases on Saturday. I'm, trying to see how to get into my Bachmann DD40AX to see what's inside. There are holes in the bottom of the fuel tank and the instructions include exploded views show what might be a speaker inside. I also got my Bachmann Doodlebug, which I'm hoping to be an easy DCC conversion.
Finally getting my N Scale layout underway and have ordered the following: 2 X Boxes Peco Code 80 Wooden Ties Flex Track (add them to the box I already have) 3 X Peco SL 386 turnouts (insulfrog) 2 X Peco SL 387 turnouts (insulfrog) 10 X Peco SL 395 turnouts (insulfrog) 9 X Peco SL396 turnouts (insulfrog) 4 packs of Peco Rail Joiners Hope to have them from the UK by next Monday
Just tried out the new Soldering System and it is excellent! I don't know why I persevered with cheaper irons in the past (regardless of the brand). This system even makes me look almost proficient Very happy with this purchase and would recommend it to anyone.
I won a Hakko FX888D in a Digi-Key online contest. It's still in the box. Maybe I should break it out. I'm using a cheapy imitation now.
How to remove the shell is on this page towards the bottom right above the ad! http://www.spookshow.net/loco/bachdd40ax.html Maybe this will help!
Wow, I didn't expect it to have TWO motors and FOUR flywheels. I remember as a kid lusting after Athearn's HO scale DD35s, I think you could get one with two motors. I've ordered a couple more WP locos, another orange and silver GP35 (like I need another) and a New Image GP40-2 (like I need another one of those as well). Both are DCC. Should be fun!
If you ever need Bachmann info that is the site to go to. Is yours Sound Value? I want a version with sound as this is the coolest sound loco, and the ONLY one I want, but I am not paying that price for it. So I'll either have to get some great deal, or just pass. I watched the videos of the Sound Value one at least 50 times, when I got back into the hobby a few years ago. I guess you like it a lot as you were surprised by what was inside? How does it run, etc...
Since railroad club meeting was at Caboose tonight, I picked up 4 GHQ kits that seem to be rather hard to find!
