I have finished 95% of the ballast for the peninsula I added last summer. I have just started to rough in scenery, and last weekend I ripped out a handlaid turnout since it was too sharp, and laid a new one.

Next up will be the first level of scenery on half the penninsula, and then more mock up structures while I procrastinate laying code 40 in a yet to be designed industrial branch. :D

    Nodima,

Your layout looks fantastic and those handlaid turnouts look superb i really enjoyed browsing your layout.

I ordered 4 Microtrains boxcars as pictured above. I think I got a bargain at $11.50 each :D

Nodima, those turnouts look fantastic! I have built a great many turnouts but never in N scale  Most of mine were all in O scale, with a few in 00 scale, and #1 scale.

Your layout is going to be very good, I am sure [IMG]

After beginning to get to grips with the rebuild of my AWRR layout, I have changed my mind, and am going for a completely new layout

We are thinking that we may move house in the next year or two, and finishing a permanent layout was not a good idea. So I will be starting immediately on a new layout using portable baseboards, so the layout can move to a new home.

I am thinking of having an industrial area so there is lots of switching potential, rather than a long main line. This can then be fitted into any new layout depending on available space. I also like the idea of a bit of street running! [IMG]

Will post progress pictures as I build the new layout.

    Thanks for the compliments!!!

Just got back from a not so local train shoppe. $11.50 is a bargain for those MT cars!!

Found some covered cylindrical hopper made by Delaware something...$4.50 each. Had a slightly difficult time fitting them with MT trucks, but they seem to be set now. Also bought an Atlas B40-8 in UP colors. Blown away by it. Really spectacular.

I built my layout in 6 sections bolted together, and feel that gives enough flexibility for moving, and if I decide to drastically change one section, it should not be too difficult to do.

    Back to adding some scenery.

What's this the AWRR is no more??? Well it sounds like an interesting project Alan but I'm sure finding the time is the biggest problem.

It does make sense though to start again especially since you have decided to go DCC. I look forward in seeing your designs in the layout forums hmmmm you could be Trainboards own Tony Koester :D

Good luck and I'm looking forward to seeing your progress.
