Hi everyone I updated the Winter Valley files and a new photo/story (and a short video) can be found on the What's New pages. Something a little different too. A song started me out on this story line and I became so wrapped up in it that I sent out for a 1/2 dozen new Prieser figures to complete the scenery. Had to redress them to make it work but the Go-Go singer and another lady are in a drawer. You can turn it off if you want. Never the less, I think there are a few modelling ideas there regardless of scale. Please enjoy. Dave at Winter Valley Regional Railroad - Welcome!
Awesome Work, yet again Dave. Setting the bar so high for amateurs like me to try and aim for~ Out of all my Bookmarks, your site has always been at the top, I've gotten a lot of inspiration for my indoor layout from your stuff alone. Looking forward to more~
Ain't it so. I'm looking for a blue and white one myself. My first car (around 1960) was a 54 Ford. The floor rusted out and the sheet of plywood didn't keep out the water so my new bride insisted I get rid of it - fast. "Our" new 58 Chevy was a dream. We put over 150,000 on that lady and would have done more had we not been posted overseas. The little black VW was fun but it was never quite the same. I try to fit in as much of my past onto the layout. Cars and trucks are relatively easy now what with all the diecast items available. Still, those manufacturers sidestep all the 'basic' cars I need. The big old Pontiac, the Olds and the Accord for example. Dave
My senior year in high school, a classmate had one in those colors. If I recall correctly, it also had the 348 tri-power engine. It was a beauty! What manufacturer is your model? Boxcab E50
Thanks for the nice words. The good lord willing and the creek don't rise I should get another 10 years down here. So there will be more to come. BTW, as a closet Alcoholic I love your FA's and the U25. They look great. When we lived down east I would haunt the places that were home to FA4' RS3's, 630's and 636's. I even thought seriously about modelling an eastern short line just so I could fit them in somewhere. But as I had already chalked up 20 years in N scale doing a prairie railroad I decided to stick with what I knew best. I even sold off my RS3. Keep us all up to date. Dave
I have a love for cab units ever since I grew up next to Burlington Northern's Commuter Line. Those E8's looked so elegant. And when I got my FA one year for christmas, I was hooked on the Alcos. One day while riding through wisconsin, I managed to spy one down a local regional. I never found out what line but that rumbling was so awesome. I think the one I saw was a FA-2. My FA/FB combo is going to get one further conversion. Montreal Locomotive Works FPA-4 and FPB-4. I've seen photographs, and studied the plans. They even had dynamic braking on some units. Sadly only one FPB-4 survives in Canadian Paint and that's for VIA. It's now in a railroad museum. Grand Canyon National Railway has a set of FPA/FPB/FPA's and I've seen a surviving set of FPA/FPB in New York Central at a railroad museum somewhere in NY State (photograph). Do Keep us posted on your next upcoming decade. And as for ye old Creek... tell it to go flood someone elses yard haha.
I think the largest fleet of exCN's FA4's is at Nappa Valley Calf. They've done a beautiful job of maintaining them. Check out.... Napa Valley Wine Train - Winery Tours You'll also see a few of them in action on my web site Winter Valley Regional Railroad - Welcome! on the Proto-file pages. Dave
