Thanks Robert, I removed the originals and clued them back in correct positions without adding any shim stock parts. I will stop by today after work and the hopper with me as well. Hien.
I am working on my birthday present to myself. I turned 50 today! This is what I'm working on, repainting 3 of my AZL 23K Gal Funnel Flows:
Happy b-day Robert. My b-day was last week. I got myself a 100% electric motorcycle. Brammo Enertia. You do what you want. I like those cars!
Happy B.D. Robert. Only 25 more to becoming an ol' man... Can someone tell me why funnel flows are depressed at the TOP of the cylinder. Thanks. ...don
Only thing that makes sense to me is to make sure there is air trapped on the outside edges to allow for expansion. Fluids don't compress well, but air does. Just a guess.
Thanks for the well wishes guys, Still drying in the paint booth. I replaced the plastic brakewheels with etched brass ones, and repainted 3 of my 4 car set. For the blue one, I modernized it with reflective safety stripes, then gave them all a light oxidation weathering, no graffiti:
Robert, Happy Birthday! Beautiful work!!! I am so impressed. These cars are a harbinger of things to come. I have been working on the Luekte Modellbahn brewery. It is nice to get back to modeling. Here is a quick photo the warehouse. I still have paint touch-up and weathering to do. I plan to do all the weathering for the complex at the same time to keep things consistent. Nice kit by the way. I am very impressed with the Luetke line. Rob
Happy Birthday Robert!!! Wow!!! Such Beautiful Work these tank cars are!!! Hobo Tim p.s. Like the BNSF Best!!!
Happy Birthday Rob!!! You may be another year older, but you can still work amazingly fast. According to your posts, at 9:30am you had some tank car design ideas. And by 10:10, they were DONE!!! Painted, decaled and weathered!!! I wish I could work that fast. Happy Birthday! Bill Mock
Great work old man Robert! Rob that brewery does look vey nice. Did you paint it or is that the color?
Joe, I painted it. Most of the sheets come as plain white. The windows are very dark brown. I purposely painted these with a mottled affect to attempt to give it a base stucco affect. I plan to add washed of dark to pop the details and then finish off with dry brushing to really give the kit a worn feel. I still have a warehouse, main brewery building, smoke stack, and small buildings to go. I plan to work on the warehouse next and save the main brewery building for last. Rob
Happy birthday Robert. Your gift to yourself is perfect, very good looking cars. Doing something for your own birthday is a great idea amd should be "industry" standard. Lajos :0)
I had heated up the printer for several hours before printing, but still the orange did not cover well, even though I used 2 passes. Still, the effect is good for reflective stripes because te white that shows through helps with the effect in photos. Decals are hard to print when it's cold, and it took a couple sets to complete each car. Allan Borg just emailed he uses metallic gold. I'll try that next time.
Yes, I was not sure that I had read somewhere that the kodak orange had some issues sticking on decals paper, you confirmed my suspicion.:bear-err: I could swear you were 39! I think I saw your age on the right corner of trainboard a few years back, before you took it out.:bear-nerd: Ben
Happy Birthday Robert, And very nice artwork for those cars. Your Saskatchewan decals created a great deal of interest at the Whitby ON show I attended with my good Lady as my birthday present. We had the only Z in the show. 67 and still ticking. cheers Garth
Wow Rob! I'm dying from envy. Those cars look GREAT! What a great time to be in Z!!! Thank for giving us something to dream for. Bill Mock
