Excellent job Jürg! That kit came out real nice! I did not realize it was such a well thought out and complete kit loaded with all those great details. Lionel's stuff looks so nice. I had the pleasure of meeting Lionel last year at the GATS: And he had brought some samples of his fine work to the show: I always look forward to seeing Lionel's projects, as he is a true Z Scale artist. His kits may be the most detailed ever produced in Z.
Jurg, The station has indeed turned out real nice. I did not realize it had so many additional fine details. Is your build out of the box or did you add all the details... either way it has turned out very nice looking. Kim
Thanks for the kind words Kim and Rob. Some of the details (Oil Tank, Garbage Can and the Black Box) are from my "left over" box.
I like that Diesel tank on the back. All you need now it is a tower to go with it: And a nice sign: (that's me with the Schlitz Malt Liquor)
Jeff, I saw those pictures on a previous post and all that I can say is: Wow! But it's definetly out of my reach at the moment. I'm trying to learn step by step. At this time I'm working on the GG Laser Grainelevator. I'll show the progess soon here on Trainboard.
GC Laser I've bought a GC Laser Grainelevator a couple of month ago. As my Family spend their time in Brasil at the moment, I've the time to start with this Laserkit. There is still no weathering and landscaping done (but soon). The kit has 217 parts!
Wow! That looks great Jürg! I like the rustic colors, like faded redwood stain!. I did not know there was a platform, awnings, and a dust collector with this kit? That's real nice! The flatbed truck looks great too!
Jurg, Did they short you a trim piece for a door on the inside corner you haven't shown yet? I ask because my sheets didn't have it. I E-mailed them and they replied that it is indeed not there, so they will add it to the laser artwork. It is a nice kit, the roof is a little bit tricky.
Robert, the dust collector is from another kit but the rest is original. BTW what is "awnings". Chris, it was not that easy for me to build that kit because it was my first big Laserkit. I've make a lot of minor errors even with the roof but if I build a second kit, it would looks more professional. I'm not finish with the weathering yet and the roof needs also a little work but I'm happy with the result.
Switch yard module On my "workbench" at the moment is a new ZMOD module in a more European style. A small switching yard with an oil/gas depot is the plan. And maybe some other industry things to.
Jurg, I think you did a good job on the elevator. I thought the kit was pretty hard my self. Worth it in the end though.
I've been trying to organize my Z scale scrap, so, I've been bailing and crushing and stacking, and filling up gons to ship it out. I lost my India ink, but wanted to try to paint some up anyway, so thet're not quite right. I tried to use printer ink on one of my baled scrap piles, but it doesn't wipe off so well, it just blackened the entire mess, rather than fill in the creases. Dan S.
Those are great details Dan! Are any going to be available for sale? I have some 65' Mill Gondolas that I want to fill with crushed cars, and I could also use some stacked cars awaiting the crusher too!
Robert, I'm not sure yet, I have to order some fresh resin. The stuff I used was a bit old, so it was a bit thicker than I like. Out of eight pours, I only got acceptable results from about half. The crushed metal is a fairly "complex" mold. The masters were made from individual, compacted pieces of foil and wire, so there are many nooks and crannies. I had originally planned on making several individual loads worth of cubes, but it was taking a long, long time, so, I decided to make a mold. By the way, 65' mill gons? Dan S.
