I was in Muskogee, OK on personal business, and took a little time to shoot some of the local RR action. UP runs on the former MKT main thru town, and it was there I saw this car in an inbound local:

I was gonna get a pic to show our Iowa members, but after I uploaded it, I noticed something wrong with the car (no, not the obvious grafitti). Got a bit of a chuckle out of it, though.

As Larry the Cable Guy would say, "That's funny right there, I don't care who ya are!"

I don't know all the railroads back there, but I doubt that CIC stands for City Railway and Iowa City Railway. Too many words and Railway twice. The first C must stand for something else, like Cedar Rapids. Wouldn't that make it the "Crandic?"
    :tb-biggrin:

Someone was pretty sloppy with a stencil. Was it done on a Monday morning? A Friday afternoon? Or have they renamed the old CRANDIC?

I entered "CIC Railroad" into Google and got "Cedar Rapids And Iowa City Railway", followed by CRANDIC". So obviously Jim and Ken know their stuff, and Bob, I'm sure you were just seeing if the rest of us were awake.....:tb-tongue:

    WHOOPS!!!!!

Someone at the CRANDIC Shops was either drunk or had a "dyslexic" moment.

Yes folks it is the CRANDIC or the Cedar Rapids and Iowa City Railway.
CRANDIC - The Cedar Rapids and Iowa City Railway

The railcars are in honor of those employees who have worked for the company for years. And so a few years ago, they started doing these honors.

A great way to honor those who made the CRANDIC what it is today. :)

There was another CRANDIC hopper (properly lettered) coupled next to it, but I couldn't get a decent shot in time. IMO someone in the shop wasn't paying too much attention when the name was being painted on the car's side (or perhaps the stencil that said "Cedar Rapids" was damaged & unusable at the time).

Oh well, as long as the reporting marks & lettering are all proper............

I noticed something else funny. First, the letters CIC is a (rather short) palindrome. Second, the numbers 21:15 are mirror images if put in a digital display.
