trying to track down some decals or some place that offers decals at a more reasonable than $75.00 for set up and production of a few small sheets it seems that I could get the decals sheets and make my own cheaper than having them made, correct me if I am wrong.

here is the Wheeling & Lake Eire that I am referring to.

Normally I would say try making it yourself, but that orange over black could give you some problems as far as being opaque enough. Even some pro sheets in a situation like that might have to be doubled up. Seems like the two things you need really, would be the main logo and number. And it would actually be better in this case, if there was a way to paint it, so it would match. I recall reading once how the manufacturers "stamp" the logos using paint somehow. I'm not sure how they do it, but you might want to look into that. Or possibly doing some kind of mask.

Microscale already makes a set for older (pre-RG style) WLE units in N scale and is reportedly working on a set of the newer Rio Grande-style (don't know when it's supposed to come out).

Highbal Graphics just came out with some HO sets and may make them in N without the extra "tooling" fees if there is enough demand for them. It has happened to me before where I asked him for N scale versions of some other HO decals and when he told me it was going to cost me extra, I waved him off. He e-mailed me back a couple days later saying that someone else had paid the tooling and that they were now available in N. Just make sure that you let him know that you are interested so that he can get back to you when he makes them. See http://www.mgdecals.com/new_sets_locomotives.htm

ELS trains also makes them in HO. Since he prints them himself, you might try to ask him if he will reduce them down to N scale. If he has the artwork already, it shouldn't be too hard, and he only charges $5 per set. See http://home.mindspring.com/~elstrains/id3.html
