Defective Digitrax Decoder count is rising substantially. Mostly DZ143's and DZ125's

Well with a super sized fleet, it is bound to happen.

I have 2 bad Zimo decoders so far in the fleet of FVM locomotives. I still have to check the NS locomotives from FVM. That box is after I do the box of CSX locomotives.

Digital electronics NOT made to last. I have some old hard drives, removed working, from upgrading. They don't work no mo' and they were just stored.

Actually that is expected for hard drives and SSDs. You can't just let them sit as they need power every so often to maintain the "bits" else they will flip. North-South for HDs and 0-1 for SSDs, but don't quote me on the exact terminology. They need to be powered up every 6-12 months. Once the bits flip, the drive becomes corrupt.

Believe it or not, mag tape is the most reliable for off line, non-powered mass storage.
