ATSF when where the numberboards blanked out?

    Hello everyone.

    Just to get a general idea on my era here. When did Santa Fe start to block out the rear numberboards and put the number over the rear headlight? I have an athearn RTR GP35 with this feature but none of my other units have it yet.

    I'm not sure, but I think the first locomotive order with the number boards off the back was the 8700-class U36C's in 1972.
