Hey Alan, I see that patternmaking is underway for the DODX flats. When do you expect to start making them? PS, if you need info on any of this kind of thing, let me know. Here at the home of the 3rd Cavalry, we've always got plenty of 'em hanging around, and I've spent (too much) time climbing around on them taking measurements and so forth. Also, what do you plan to do about decals? I've done mine so far by piecing together from various sets, but the load limit gets tricky (being as it's something on the order of 300,000) and I've no clue what to do about the arrowhead insignia the Logistics folks put on these. Are you listening, Microscale? Some real heavy duty decals would be great.
Patterns almost done, should be ready for mold-making this week, and casting immediately thereafter. As for decals, I was thinking of doing what you did for my own models. I was considering having some custom decals made, but not sure if I would need permission, although it is only lettering, so should not be "copyright"?
Alan: I don't think copyright issues will come into play here, as we're talking about the Department of Defense (not to be confused, for the most part, with the Ministry of Silly Walks) Like you said, most of the lettering is just that (I used RR Gothic), and the specific logos are for government agencies, not private companies.
Thanks Eagle, I thought it should be ok. Pity we cannot print white on ink-jet printers Chester, they will be sold in packs of two, at around the same price as two 60ft flatcars. As my prices include air mail shipping, I will need to weigh them before deciding on a final price.
