I thought I would start this post on where Christmas train displays are located in our areas. In St. Charles, Missouri Jehling Hardware 2020 1st Capitol Dr. Large Lionel Christmas layout inside store (free) Main Street Christmas Display Trailer at north end of Main street Lionel Christmas layout (free/donations, lots of buttons for kids to push) In Overland, Missouri Outdoor G gauge Christmas layout 8851 Windom, Ave. In front yard of house (free) I hope you all can add more to this list and share it with friends and co-workers, especially those with children. There's enough junk on TV, lets get those kids out to see this exciting hobby we all love. Thanks, and Happy Holidays to all. Polski
I forgot one. St. Louis, Missouri Missouri Botanical Gardens 4344 Shaw Blvd. Gardenland Express G gauge layout cost $8 into garden (12 and under free) plus $3 to get in to see the layout. Polski
The best one I've ever seen is at the Cinergy building in downtown Cincinnati. It has been a tradition for many years. There was an episode of "Tracks Ahead" that it was featured on.
South Station, Boston, MA I think it is larger than G. I'll try to ghet pictures tomorrow. Put on by a local RR club.
Aventura, Florida (North Miami area) @ Aventura Regional Mall. It is O scale and reportedly cost about $340,000 to create. It has been displayed during the holiday season for the past 3 years (IIRC).
There is a great G and O layout setup in the Main Hall of the Kansas City Union Station. Lots of trains running. There are HO and N kiosks in the station also. The Chicago Botanic Gardens have G trains in one garden. They are advertising on Chicago radio. I saw the summer layout a few months ago and it was well done with multiple trains, overhead trestles, etc. There is an admision charge, but I do not remember how much. South Station It is basically an oval around the bottom and a figure 8 around the two "mountains". Lots of very clever buildings and such.
