Hi, I am doing scenery now and I wonder which one I should do first laying down the green grass or the ballast especially between the tracks such as the yard where there are more than one tracks. Thanks for your recommendations. Mo
well imagine what would happen prototypically, I'd be laying some grass then the ballast. I would then lay some grass in between tracks to replicate weeds and grain growing in between the ballast. Here are are few shots of my layout.
Like was said, just think of the real thing. First put dirt down along the track edges, then possibly cinders. The ballast and grass would go on next, but not totally overlap. Just about any tracks you could walk besides would have a few feet of buffer. Sometime ballast isn't perfect and it shouldn't be on your layout either, so a little overlap of the grass/ballast might not look "wrong".
