I'm looking to buy some scalecoat spray paint to take the easy way out on painting a TTX kit (easier than breaking out the airbrush...). I had no idea that Scalecoat made so many colors in spray paint! Anyway, they don't offer a TTX yellow, but they do have: UP Yellow CNW Yellow EL Yellow Reefer Yellow CP Yellow D&H Yellow Which one, in your all's expert opinions, is the closest match to TTX yellow?
Dave, I don't have any CNW or CP yellow to compare, but the D&H and EL are a few shades off. The UP Armour Yellow and the Reefer Yellow are pretty close to the TTX, with the UP maybe just a touch closer. If you didn't have them sitting side by side with anything painted TTX yellow you probably couldn't tell the difference.
I have used UP Armour Yellow in place of TTX Yellow in the past. It was not in the spray can but in the bottle. I think the LHS was out of TTX Yellow at the time I needed it. It certainly looks close to the same color.
IIRC.... Reefer Yellow, UP Armor Yellow and TTX Yellow are a very close match in the Floquil line. I can't say for sure about Scalecoat. 2slim
