I found this train parked half on the UP Sunset mainline and half on the BNSF main between Galveston and Temple. Lost break pressure sending it into emergency blocking most of the crossings in Rosenberg. And then the crew died.

Was it also blocking street crosings? I'll bet there was an unhappy dispatcher wishing they were fishing instead.

Nice. I get my cat in position in front of the monitor and give this post a click. Diesels? Where's the dogs? Now my cat is bored and thinks I'm crazy. Go figure. Jim

If I understand it correctly, "Dogged" is when a train is stopped on the mainline....

    Am I right?

    Am I at least close?

    Left field?

That is part of the reason. The other reason is that the crew is out of time, so they have to park the train at a reasonable location--i.e. not blocking crossings. ;)
