I'm trying to find someone who makes decals for CEFX and FURX. does anyone know who makes these? I checked caboose and microscale and came up blank. Anyone know? Thanks!
Microscale has done a lousy job on their website - so it's no surprise you didn't find their FURX decals. You might want to check Walthers.com when looking for their products - which besides the fact that you can't find them, are super. However, FURX and CEFX decals are available from Highball Graphics: http://www.highballgraphics.com/homepage.htm BTW, check carefully - some FURX locomotives are gray, some are silver and there are many variations in SD40/SD40-2 carbodies.
Gee, I don't think it's *that* bad, all things considered. I don't think you're looking hard enough. Also, give this a look: http://www.walthers.com/exec/search?category=Decal&scale=N&manu=460&item=&keywords=lease+diesel&instock=Q&split=30&Submit=Search Highball makes some nice sets for the GCFX/FURX leasers (among others), and like it's been said, model from photos, since they were all rebuilt from different core units, which can make modeling them quite interesting.
Just to be clear, in my book Microscale's decals are simply the best - and the website is secondary! However, it would be REALLY nice if it was kept up to date so I don't have to spend half an hour rumaging through the decal drawer at the hobbyshop to see what's new!!!
I'll do some more looking. I had some covered hoppers I had a bunch of duplicates of and was considering re-painting and re-nubmering for some variety. Thanks for the input!!
I purchased a set of Highball Graphics decals for a GCFX Lease unit. They are very nice. As others mentioned, work from photos as units varied in the same numbering series. Rich
If your looking for the stock number on the FURX decals from Microscale, it's 60-1117. An excellent site to look-up microscale decals is www.firstplacehobbies.com. That's where I found mine. Just make sure you have a large enough order to offset the shipping. Brian
The link to 1st Place Hobbies that Brian posted doesn't work. Here is one that I found that does work. http://www.1stplacehobbies.com/ No bashing intended. Just try to help out. [ 27. August 2004, 19:10: Message edited by: David Fowler ]
