Well I'm now in the process of installing a decoder in an MDC 2-6-0 Mogul. I've selected a TCS M1 decoder that i'm going to shoehorn into the tender. I've already cut out the coal load and replaced the front LED with a 1.5v globe. Hopefully I'll start on the decoder install tonight and post some pics for all to see. Wish me luck....
Well, I hope it works out! Since the motor is in the tender, all the wiring to/from the decoder should also be in the tender if it is possible to fit it all in. The 2-8-0 shares the same tender and it can be reworked to be very close to a "modernized" SP C-16 class steamer. If this works, I will have to look into adding one to my roster. Peter
I hope so too. With the coal load removed, there is quiet a bit space above the motor. I intend to glue a piece of styrene in place of the coal load, only higher. I'll then add my own coal when it's all up and running?
