Have 2 original Arnold AB sets, plus a brass AB set, all in Rio Grande paint. All on display. Not sure if worth converting to DCC.
Yeah, me too. And in Rio Grande livery as well. Hope someone hurries up and makes a high quality set. Sent from my SM-G973U1 using Tapatalk
Intermountain makes the FP7A+F7B with steam generator details in both UP and SP black widow. Close enough? https://www.intermountain-railway.com/n/nloco/nlocfP7.htm
"F" YES, I want some F9's!! I have them in brass but they just look a bit off and disproportionate in the numberboard area and to make them work atop a Kato mech, may be too much work there. Please, will SOMEBODY produce an F9?? Pretty please?
Intermountain makes a nice looking set of F7s. Bet F9s would be sweet. The Broadway drgw F7s have wonky details,. The ladder grabs should line up with the end of the long grab above the toe creepway but doesn't. Anyway, another vote for an F9 single stripe Rio Grande.
In 1954 three F3A's and six F3B's were sent to EMD to be rebuilt to F9 standards, this included external as well as internal modifications - so these looked like F9's when complete. EMD then supplied kits for T&NO to rebuild the rest of their F3A/B's in their Houston Shops. the A units becoming TNO #600 - 637 the B units becoming TNO #700 - 725 These rebuilds were not renumbered sequentially in order, but as rebuilt, they were also reclassed. F3A's from DF-1 becoming DF14 F3B's from DF-2 becoming DF14A The rebuilding program continued until December 1959. These units DID NOT have boilers, you want F7A's and F7B's, numbered 6186-6240 (A's) and 8086-8140 (B's) when they were in Black Widow...then it gets complicated...1952-53, 16 A's (6186-89, 6196-6201, 6204-04, 62112-13, 6220-21) and 16 B's (8086-89, 8096-8101, 80104-05, 8112-13, 8120-21) were transferred to the T&NO and were renumbered to 338-353 (A's) and 526-541(B's)...only to have all but 351-53 and all but 526-534 get returned in 1957 to the SP, and get their original numbers back
Thank you!! That's the kind of information I find very helpful. Could of swore I was looking at F9's on the point of the San Joaquin Daylight. In a Charles Smiley, video.
