    Sooo, I was thinning down some Scalecoat II SP Scarlett, and my hand slipped and I WAY overdid it on the thinner. Short of buying a new jar of paint, is there a way to remedy this? Could I just let it sit until some of the thinner evaporates?

    Thanks all :embarassed:

    I have a feeling you may be needing a new bottle of paint. :eek:mg: There are some great modelers here, so hopefully they'll have a idea.

    I'll move this over to the model RR side, The Inspection Pit. And hope someone will be able to help you!

    Good luck!

    You mean that's not where I put it? Definitely a sign I should put down the paintbrush and get some sleep :eek:mg:

    I suppose I could possibly let the paint separate and pour some of the thinner off once it floats to the top. If it works, great! If not, I need a new bottle anyway :embarassed: .

    Note to self- big can of thinner+small jar of paint=trouble

    Treat yourself to a new bottle of paint. You can then add small amounts of the thinned paint to the new bottle as you use the new paint.

    Stay cool and run steam.......:cool::cool:

    That has worked for me in the past, but I did have to leave it over a day with the lid off.

    Scalecoat II is very tolerant of extra thinning.
    If you thinned it to less than 50% thinner you can probably use it as is, it will just take an extra coat or two for good coverage.
    If you thinned it more than that, make a small shallow pan out of aluminum foil and pour the paint in. With it spread out in a thin layer the solvent will evaporate very fast (keep a close eye on it so it doesn't dry too much, and do it in a well ventilated area away from open flame!)
