Who is SOUTHWESTERN RAILROAD and what do they do? I visit Carlsbad, New Mexico four to five times a year where BNSF operated the Carlsbad Sub which ran offf the Transcon in Clovis south to Carlsbad; however, now SWRR I guess leased the Carlsbad Sub. The business is oil/gas from Navajo Refinery in Artesia and Potash from the Carlsbad. SWRR puts the unit trains together; however, BNSF units units take the empties South and loads North. The SWRR also runs off the BNSF at Rincon (North of Las Cruces) to Deming then North to Silver City, Hurley, Bayard and Tyrone (Copper Mining Country). Any information will help. I took some pics of the SWRR in Carlsbad, just haven't had time to download.
Maybe this will help a little: Southwestern Railroad Inc. P. O. Box 1876 Ogden, UT 84402 Phone: 801-621-5311 Fax: 801-393-7733 http://www.progressiverailroading.com/freightnews/article.asp?id=5527 Boxcab E50
Here is SW 3910 at Roswell, NM in July. Roswell is my home town! Simple paint scheme, but they are handsome! I understand they also run some GP30s, among other things.
They'll usually have some level of local office, and at least a "manager." We have Watco here. But they're based in Kansas. Boxcab E50
