I think the real problem with this thread is not the back and forth discussion between the modelers...

... but rather... the lack of response from any of the manufacturers of rolling stock. As the title asks --- Why don't manufacturer's body mount couplers? Not a single manufacturer has said a peep.
Where's Joe D'Amato (Micro-Trains), Dave Ferrari (DeLuxe Innovations) or anyone from Intermountain?

    Right on Grandpa Joe.

I'm back! What? I know what I said. It's lunch break...I'm entitled. Grin!

The horses are at the gate and the gun fires signaling the start of the race. Out comes MTL in the lead with a horse called "Body Mount" followed by InterMountain with a horse named "Underslung" and trailing at the tail end is Bachmann with a horse called "Ain't goin to do it" and "Same old stuff". Two entries? As they come around the corner itis Body Mount in the lead, Underslung in 2nd place and who is this riding hard and passing Same Old Stuff? It's Athearn, with a horse with "No Name" now on the tail of Underslung. They are coming down the back stretch. And, you will need to stay tuned to see what happens next. Wowwa, I didn't even see this coming. Out of the gate is Walthers with a nag named "Better Mount". A late starter. She bolts out of the gate and is running with everything she can muster. Will she be to late on the start?

    Do you think?

Here's an interesting body mount with the first good picture, it's on the railwire forum:

3 batch of Bluford Shops 86' Boxcars announced

A long car with a swivel body mount to get the right look for the cushion coupler.....

More and more manufacturers are trying...
