Not only does the search no longer work, but my signature line referring to the New Oakville Sub fom other boards also no longer works. Are you trying to tell me something? Now no one can find me any more...
As noted earlier, we have no ideas on the search issue. Nothing pinpointed as yet. You signature is showing just fine and the link works perfectly.
Didn't want to create a new thread, but the Search function is down. Can someone take a look? Thanks.
Just tried it Seems to be working. I searched for both users and topics. Results showed back very quickly.
We have no idea why, but the search seems to come and go as it pleases. There must be a bug in the software. Nothing else explains it.
Why have a non-functional search function? This is a must-have for a site with gigantic numbers of messages like this one. Where is the professionalism of the IT "dept"?
This only conjecture, plz note I have nothing to do with maintaining Trainboard site BUT recently received a notice from my hosting company that they (have now) upgraded to PHP 8.1. I started ages ago (2006) with "PHP 5.4" . . lol my *strikeout/emphasis* added. If don't "upgrade software and/or modify syntax" I now continue to pay for TWO personal websites that I cannot access! Deprecated: Deprecated: Fatal error: Array and string offset access syntax with curly braces is no longer supported These 'bugs' usually appear slowly and, to CAP it off, my server site editor is not functioning properly either (old timers BEWARE in the computer/hosting business there's NO-SUCH-THING as "backwards compatible")
For years I've supplemented my TB searches with Google when looking for something very specific. For example, if you'd like to search for "frame rot" topics in Trainboard, type this in the Google search bar: "frame rot" site:trainboard.com In some ways I find Google's search more helpful because of the images included in the search results. I know, that doesn't solve the gremlins in our search plugin, but hopefully that will help some of you find what you're looking for when our search is misbehaving. Cheers -Mike
Thumbs up Mike! I wish you message would somehow somewhere be pinned here on Trainboard, it is so very much helpfule and useful. Erik
We cannot pin messages from within a thread. However, perhaps we can talk Mike into making it a separate topic here in Support, which can then be pinned.
Will our Search function ever return? The alternate search method works, but it fails to find a lot of posts I know are here. I'm just wanting to avoid duplicate postings of pictures and adding new threads when others exist. Thanks.
