In my life - that is my full scale life - a window is a big and rather cumbersome thing to install in a wall, the frame is constructed with 5-10cm broad parts and most importantly - installed by a professional...

In my 1:220 life a window isn't that easy to install...
I am building a few houses for my sawmill from NE sheets and a combination of RS Laserkits and Micronart doors and windows but I never seem to get it completely right. Sometimes it's the proportions or the framing but I never really get the looks right.

I have hell of a time fitting the etchings in the cutouts and when they finally fit I cannot get them to stick properly and then there is the issue of making the frames etc....

I have looked at all of your superb buildings and I wonder if anyone would take a few moments and give me some advice of how to make windows work!

Hi Petter, Welcome to Trainboard! :D

Try drawing your windows scale size on your computer, and print on thick paper. Make them out of 3 layers, an inner mullion for the upper glazing, an outer mullion for the lower glazing, and the outside frame. Then cut out with a new sharp exacto blade, and stack them up. The mullion parts will fit exactly inside the window opening, and the outside frame will cover half the thickness of the mullion and over the complete window opening. Assemble the 3 layers with white glue first, then test fit, and paint before installing. Next use acetate or mylar for the window glazing and use 'Canopy Cement, or Clear Parts Cement to glue the glazing to the inside. Finally, cut some tissue and hang as curtains.

I used to make all my windows this way 10 years ago, but now I cheat and use a laser.
